a. For papers of between 8,000 and 10,000 words max. (inclusive of endnotes) to Professor Helen Meller, School of History, University of Nottingham, University Park, Nottingham NG7 2RD, UK. E-mail: helen.meller@nottingham.ac.uk

b. Authors from the Americas should send their submissions to Professor Robert Fairbanks, Editor for the Americas, Planning Perspectives, Department of History, University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington TX 76019, USA. E-mail: fairbank@uta.edu

c. Short 'research in progress' papers (between 3-4000 words inclusive of endnotes) and other copy for the International Planning History Society section to Dr David Pomfret, Department of History, Main Building, University of Hong Kong, Pok Fu Lam Road, Hong Kong. E-mail: pomfretd@hkucc.hku.hk

All submissions are refereed in a 'double-blind' refereeing process. Neither the referees nor the author(s) may know each other's identity.

2. Manuscript
a. The text should be typed double-spaced throughout on one side only of A4 paper. The pages should be numbered consecutively. All references should be put in endnotes. If possible, the manuscript should be divided into appropriately headed sections. Tables and figure captions should be included at the end of the manuscript.

b. The title page should contain the full title, the name(s) of the author(s), and their full addresses and a running title of not more than 75 characters and spaces.

c. An abstract not exceeding 200 words should be included.

d. Authors should submit separately brief biographical details of not more than 100 words.

3. Illustrations and figures
a. Illustrations must accompany the manuscript but should not be included in the text. All photographs, diagrams, charts and graphs (but not tables) should follow the same numerical sequence and be shown as Figure1, Figure 2 etc. Electronic versions may be sent on CD, preferably either TIFF or JPEG formats. If they cannot be prepared electronically, they should be presented as black and white glossy prints mounted on card. Approximate position of all illustrations etc should be indicated in the text. The highest resolution images should be used for best quality reproduction.

b. Captions should be made for all illustrations and should be listed with the figure number and an acknowledgement to the copyright holder. It is the author's responsibility to ensure the proper permissions are obtained.

c. Tables should be numbered and headed with short titles. They should be typed on separate sheets at the end of the manuscript.

5. Proofs should be corrected and returned to the Publisher within three days. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted. The difficulty and expense involved in making amendments at proof stage make it essential for authors to prepare their manuscripts carefully: any alterations to the original text are strongly discouraged.

6. Free article access
Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk

7. Copyright
Submission of a paper to Planning Perspectives will be taken to imply that it represents original, unpublished work, not under consideration for publication elsewhere. On submission of a manuscript, authors will be sent a form to transfer copyright to the Publisher.

It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at www.informaworld.com/authors_journals_copyright_position. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.

Note to Authors: Please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.
