Aims and Scope

Comments on Inorganic Chemistry is intended as a vehicle for concisely and authoriatively written critical discussions of recent important developments in inorganic chemistry. Through the medium of these “Comments,” the editors hope to make it easy and enticing for the specialist in a given area of inorganic chemistry–synthesis, structure, spectroscopy, kinetics, and mechanisms, theory–to learn about interesting work in other areas. The journal is meant not only for the inorganic chemist but non-inorganic chemists, biologists, and physicists as well. A “Comment” is an expert guide to the important progress in individual fields-progress that is frequently lost in the already vast and growing literature. Each article conveys the author's personal comments and point of view. From time to time, comments on topical conferences will be included. All contributions are solicited by the editors.

Submission of Manuscripts

Submit an electronic copy (MS Word) of the complete manuscript to the Editor-in-Chief: John P. Fackler,Jr. via e-mail at fackler@mail.chem.tamu.edu

Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically using MS Word. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. All titles should be as brief as possible, 6 to 12 words. Authors should also supply a short version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text.

References

Are indicated in the text by superior numbers in the order they appear. The full list should be collected and typed on a seperate page at the end of the paper. Follow the format for scientific references listed in The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed., Chicago: University of Chicago Press. Examples:
Books - Keener, J. P and Sneyd, J. 1998. Mathematical Physiology. New York: Springer Verlag.
Periodicals - Berridge, M. J., and Galione, A. 1988. Cytosolic calcium oscillators. FASEB Journal. 2:3074-3082

References to unpublished work or to work not properly indexed should not be used.
Tables and Figures

Tables and figures/illustrations should be embedded in the text. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend, with any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated. All figures (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
  • 300 dpi or higher
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • EPS, TIFF, JPEG, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, in addition to those embedded in text files.
Color Reproduction

If the use of color artwork is desired, please contact the publisher for print and online color costs. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of any prints deemed unacceptable. Be sure that every figure has a brief descriptive legend and that every table has a concise title.
