Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Asian Journal of Political Science (AJPS) invites contributions focusing on Asian countries or regions and covering major areas of political science, including the system of state and government, political parties and elections, civil society and non-government organization, interstate relations and conflict, Asian political thought, foreign policy and diplomacy, public policy and public administration, administrative reform and decentralization, etc.

Terms & Conditions

AJPS considers only original manuscripts that have not been published or submitted elsewhere for consideration. Authors must seek permission to quote from and reproduce copyright materials in their manuscripts. Each submission is subject to blind review, and therefore, the author's name and affiliation should not appear on the manuscript itself. For each manuscript, there should be a cover page to include the author's name, affiliation, address, telephone, fax, e-mail, and biographical note (a short paragraph). Authors will be informed of the outcome and editorial decision within 2-3 months after the initial submission of manuscripts.

It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights to the publisher. They may subsequently use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission, provided that proper acknowledgement is given to AJPS as the original source of publication. Further information about copyright policies is available at www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authorrights.pdf.

Correspondence

Authors should submit manuscripts via electronic mail (as attachments) or regular mail (three printed copies). Electronic submission is preferred.

All editorial correspondence (including manuscript submission) should be sent to:

M. Shamsul Haque, Editor, AJPS, Department of Political Science, National University of Singapore, 11 Arts Link, AS1 4th Level, Singapore 117570. E-mail: polhaque@nus.edu.sg

Books for review should be sent to any of the following Associate Editors: Yoshinori Nishizaki, Leigh Jenco, or Kilkon Ko. Department of Political Science, National University of Singapore, 11 Arts Link, AS1 4th Level, Singapore 117570

Manuscript Preparation

All submissions must be in English, typed in Microsoft Word, and thoroughly double-spaced (text, notes, and references) with one-inch margins from all sides. British spelling is preferred. Use single quotation marks for quoted text, and double quotation marks for quotes within a quote.

Manuscript pages should be consecutively numbered. The length of articles should be around 6,000 to 10,000 words (including notes and references). The first page of each manuscript should contain the article title (without the author's name), an abstract (150-200 words), and six key words. The main text should be properly structured with necessary headings and/or sub-headings.

Notes should be kept to a minimum and compiled as endnotes at the end of the article (just before the references). Tables and figures should not be inserted within the manuscript pages, they should be presented at the end of the manuscript. Author should, however, indicate within the manuscript the desired location of each table or figure.

References and Notes

For AJPS, the Harvard system of referencing is preferred. The names of authors, dates of publication, and page numbers should appear in the main text in the following manner: (Huntington, 1993: 12) or (Waldo, 1980: 5-11; Riggs, 1974: 9) or (Morgenthau, 1978; Waltz, 1999; Laferriere and Stoett, 1999). For quoted material, the page number(s) must be cited. For two or more works published by the same author in the same year, references should be distinguished by using format like 1995a, 1995b, 1995c, etc. The full citations of all references (only those used in the text) should be compiled together in alphabetical order (by authors' surnames) and presented as a list of References at the end of the manuscript. The format of this list of References should be as follows:

Book: Kegley, C. and Wittkopf, E. R. (1995). World Politics: Trends and Transformation. New York: St. Martin's Press.

Article in Journal: Homer-Dixon, T. F. (1994). 'Environmental Scarcities and Violent Conflict: Evidence from Cases', International Security, 19 (1): 5-40.

Article in Newspaper: Fernandez, W. (1996). 'Women Urged to Strike a Balance', The Straits Times, 30 September, p.30.
