Society Information
The Geographical Society of New South Wales Inc. is the state's premier Geographical society and is responsible for Australia's oldest academic international geography journal Australian Geographer. Since its foundation as a professional society in 1927, the Society has been dedicated to the promotion, support and nurture of Geography, geographical research and education. The Society's membership is made up of Geography educators and researchers, practising geographers and members of the public with broad interests in human and physical environments and travel.
The Society's mission is to advance geographical scholarship in New South Wales and throughout Australia. It is also an advocate for geographical contributions to the policy formulation for, and the management of, environmental and social issues in Australia.

Members of the Geographical Society of New South Wales receive three copies of the Australian Geographer per year, four copies of the Society Newsletter and subsidised registration fees to Society conferences.
