Critique: Critical Middle Eastern
Studies
Call for Papers
Critique invites submissions from
all social science disciplines of articles presenting critical analyses
of significant socio-economic, cultural, historical, and political
developments in the Middle East.
Critique promotes an academic and
critical examination of the history and contemporary political,
social, economic, and cultural aspects of Middle Eastern countries.
Critique actively engages theoretical and empirical
studies and by so doing promotes a critical understanding of the
complex nature of ideas, values, social configurations and material
realities of Middle Eastern societies. Critique provides
a forum for the inter-disciplinary examination of diverse issues
based on solid research and critical readings of developments in
the Middle East.

Manuscripts submitted to Critique
must not have been published previously or be submitted simultaneously
to any other journal. Manuscripts must not exceed 35 double-spaced
typewritten pages, including tables, appendices, and endnotes. Please
follow the Chicago Manual of Style format for notes and number/caption
any tables or appendices. Submit four copies, including a title
page with the author's name and contact information.
All Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Turkish words
must be transliterated in conformity with the Middle East Studies
Association's (MESA) style. Foreign words that have become part
of the English vocabulary (e.g., ulema, qadi, bazaar) may be used
in accordance with unabridged dictionary style. The author is responsible
for accuracy and consistency of transliteration and foreign word
usage.
Completed papers (four copies) and an IBM compatible

will not normally be returned.
