Aims & Scope

hot topics
Merged with Philosophy & Geography in 2005

Ethics, Place & Environment offers scholarly articles, reviews, critical exchanges, and short reflections on all aspects of environmental ethics, environmental philosophy, and/or the normative dimensions of environmental policy.

The journal aims to publish the best and clearest philosophical work on the environment — human and natural, built and wild — as well as insightful or descriptively accurate analyses exploring ethical questions raised by public policy proposals or developments.

While Ethics, Place & Environment centers on environmental philosophy and policy, its substantive coverage casts a wide shadow. Past authors have been concerned with a range of subjects, such as applied environmental ethics, animal rights, justice in urban society, development ethics, sustainability, and cultural values relevant to environmental concerns. The journal also welcomes analyses of practical applications of environmental, urban, and regional policies, as well as theoretically robust discussions of common but weak arguments that appear throughout the environmental discourse, either in the scholarly literature or in the broader civil sphere.

Ethics, Place & Environment is of particular relevance to a number of disciplines, including Philosophy, Environmental Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Ecology, Economics, Architecture, Geography, and Urban Planning.
