Aims & Scope

Higher Education Research & Development (HERD) is a refereed international journal, established in 1982 as the principal learned journal of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA).

Higher Education Research & Development aims to inform and challenge researchers, teachers, students, administrators, policy-makers and others concerned with the past, present and future of higher education. The journal publishes scholarly articles on the theory and practice of higher education. This includes comparative reviews and critically reflective case studies, historical and other kinds of scholarly essays, as well as empirically-based papers that address higher education policy, practice, the study of teaching and learning and all other aspects of the field of higher education. All articles must propose fresh critical insights into the area being addressed and be appropriately framed for an international audience.
All articles in this journal have undergone rigorous double-blind peer review by at least two internationally recognised peers.
