Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to the Editors. After an initial screening, all papers are subject to a double-blind refereeing process. The Editors will determine acceptance according to reviewing reports provided by the referees. Authors will be provided with copies of the reviewers' reports. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the VSA (see Copyright information below).

Manuscript Submission Address:

Papers may be submitted at any time by email to Dr. Jan Packer at j.packer@uq.edu.au.

The manuscript

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of approximately 150 words. Include a list of up to six key words to be used for database word searches.

Original research articles should normally be of 4000 to 8000 words in length and should contain the following sections:
Introduction. Introduce the research problem, summarise and discuss related research reported in the literature, and indicate the aims and significance of the research.
Method. Provide a detailed description of the research design, participants, research settings, instruments, sampling and data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques.
Results. Report the data that answer the research questions, citing relevant statistics or qualitative data. Include tables and graphs if relevant.
Discussion. Evaluate and interpret the results with reference to the literature. Indicate the practical or theoretical implications of the results and discuss any limitations of the research. (Results and Discussion sections may be combined where appropriate.)

We also welcome review papers which explore and critically examine the use of specific methodologies in visitor research, or case study papers which report specific instances of the use of a particular method and the results achieved.

Tables, figures and illustrations

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate pages or files. The desired position in the text for each table, etc. should be indicated in the text as "Insert Table 1 here" or "Insert Figure 3 here". A short descriptive title should appear above each table. Explanatory material should be placed as a footnote to the table. Illustrations, including black and white photographs, should be submitted as separate digital files and should follow these guidelines: 300 dpi or higher; sized to fit on journal page; EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only.

References

References should be listed in alphabetical order and formatted using APA Style. Each listed reference should be cited in the text using the "author-date" method, and each text citation should be listed in the References. For further guidance, the editors recommend the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, latest edition.

Copyright

It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to the Visitor Studies Association. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from Taylor & Francis, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as original source of publication, and that Taylor & Francis is notified so that our records show that its use is properly authorised. Authors retain a number of other rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies documents. Details of these policies may be accessed at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authorrights.pdf
