Instructions for Authors

Submission of Manuscripts:
 
Electronic submission of manuscripts is preferred via email to delmonico@duq.edu The manuscript should be prepared using Microsoft Word. Alternatively, authors may submit a hard copy of their article. One copy of the manuscript should be sent to David L. Delmonico, Ph.D., Editor, Sexual Addiction & Compulsivity, Duquesne University, School of Education, Pittsburgh, PA 15282. A Microsopft Word version (e.g., CD Rom) that exactly matches the hardcopy printout must be supplied.
Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
 
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Manuscript pages should be numbered consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of no more that 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text. Format for references and citations should conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Fifth Edition, 2001. Affiliation:
 
Include full names and authors, academic and/or other professional affiliations and the complete mailing address of the author to whom proofs and correspondence would be sent on the title pages. Please include phone, fax, and e-mail address, if
available.
 
Illustrations:
 
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
 
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • 300 dpi or higher
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Tables and Figures:

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, doublespaced,
on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edgeindicated.
 
Page Proofs:
 
All proofs must be corrected and returned to the publisher within 48 hours of receipt. If the manuscript is not returned within the allotted time, the editor will proofread the article and it will be printed per the editor's instruction. Only correction of typographical errors is permitted. The author will be charged for additional alterations to text at the proof stage.
 
Offprints:
 
Each corresponding author of an article will receive one complete copy of issue in which the article appears. Offprints of an individual article may be ordered from Taylor & Francis by using the offprint order form included with page proofs.
