Instructions for Authors

ScholarOne Manuscripts
This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below.

Submission of Manuscripts

Marine Georesources & Geotechnology receives all manuscript submissions electronically via their ScholarOne Manuscripts website located at: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/UMGT.  ScholarOne Manuscripts allows for rapid submission of original and revised manuscripts, as well as facilitating the review process and internal communication between authors, editors and reviewers via a web-based platform. ScholarOne Manuscripts technical support can be accessed via http://scholarone.com/services/support/. If you have any other requests please contact the journal's editors at ronald32644@suddenlink.net or john@soest.hawaii.edu.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been either published elsewhere or submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. As an author, you are required to secure permission if you want to reproduce any figure, table, or extract from the text of another source. This applies to direct reproduction as well as “derivative reproduction” (where you have created a new figure or table which derives substantially from a copyrighted source).

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced,with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper.Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of no more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text.

Affiliation
On the title page include full names of authors, academic and/or other professional affiliations, and the complete mailing address of the author to whom proofs and correspondence should be sent.

References
References should be formatted in the author-date system of the Chicago Manual of Style. Sources cited in the text are noted in parenthesis with author and date of publication only. Example: (Chamarthi 2009). The full bibliographic information is then complied in a list of references at the end of the manuscript. Please write out journal titles in full, no abbreviations. For a Quick Guide to the Chicago Style with many more examples, see http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html, and follow the guidelines for author-date system.

Rates for color art reproduction are: Print Rates: $900 for the first page of color; $450 per page for each of the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than 4 pages of color.

A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, in a separate file, or on a separate page in the manuscript.
