International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Aims and Scope

The International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence is a publication dedicated to the advancement of the academic discipline of Intelligence Studies. The journal features articles and book reviews on the broad range of national security matters.

The Journal serves as a medium for professionals and scholars to exchange opinions on issues and challenges encountered by both governmental and business institutions in making contemporary intelligence-related decisions and policy, and for researchers to assess earlier developments and events in this field.

As an independent, non-partisan forum, the Journal presents the informed and diverse findings of its contributing writers, and does not advocate positions of its own.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be submitted in hard copy triplicate and on disk to the Editor-in-Chief, Richard R. Valcourt, P.O. Box 1975, New York, NY 10021. Books for review should also be sent to the Editor-in-Chief. Submitted text must be clear and concise. Manuscripts will be accepted with the understanding that their content is unpublished and not submitted for publication elsewhere. All accepted manuscripts and artwork become the property of the publisher. Hard copy of the manuscript, including title page, abstracts, tables, and legends, should be typewritten, double-spaced, and single-sided. All margins should be at least one inch and all pages should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript. Manuscripts submitted electronically must be on 3.5 high-density floppy disks formatted for Windows computers. All manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word.

Titles

Titles must be as brief and clear as possible (6 to 12 words). Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces.

Affiliation.

On the title page include full names of authors, academic and/or other professional affiliations, and the complete mailing address for correspondence.

References

All references should be numbered consecutively at the end of the paper. In the text, references should be cited by a superior character of the corresponding number. For further information, consult The Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:

  • 600 dpi or higher for line art; 300 dpi or higher for halftones
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Figures and Tables

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the test but should be included as separate sheets or files. Legends and captions should not be included within the graphic image. All figures and tables must be discussed or mentioned in the text and numbered in order of mention. Each table should have a brief descriptive title. Do not include explanatory material in the title: use footnotes keyed to the table with superior lower case letters. Place all footnotes to a table at the end of the table. Define all data in the column heads. Every table should be fully understandable without reference to the text.
