General Information
The text of the manuscript should be prepared using MS Word and should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name
and software program. Illustrations, figures and tables should be separated from the text and submitted electronically as described in a foregoing paragraph. Each manuscript must be accompanied with a signed agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher and a short biography of each author. An electronic copyright form can be found at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/copyright.asp. If you experience trouble retrieving this form, please email the Managing Editor directly at Lalaine.Breitenbach@L-3com.com to request one.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten and double-spaced with margins of at least one inch on all sides. No page numbers, line numbers or information in the header/footer is needed, as Manuscript Central will automatically generate these for you. Authors should also supply a short-ended version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding fifty (50) character spaces.
Affiliation
On the title page include (in the following order) manuscript title, names of authors, affiliations and the address of the author to whom proofs and correspondence should be sent, including an email address and telephone number.
Abstract and Keywords
Each article should be summarized in an Abstract of no more than one hundred (100) words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams and reference to the text. Manuscript Central will guide you through each step of the submission process including a section specifically for keywords.
Spelling, Hyphenation and Scientific Notation
All manuscripts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammatical errors prior to submission. The spelling and hyphenation authority is Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (most current edition). The System International (SI) or modern metric units are to be used. If some data are traditionally quoted in the English system, they can be put in parentheses following the metric unit, e.g. 0.47 GN/m2 (68,000 psi).
Equations
Equations should be neatly typed, punctuated, aligned to bring out their structure, and numbered on the right. Use “X” rather than a centered dot, except when using scalar products of vectors. The diagonal line (/) should be used instead of built-up fractions in the running text, and in display unless the denominator is complicated. The symbol exp [ ] instead of e( ) should
be used for complicated arguments of the exponential function.
be used for complicated arguments of the exponential function.
Illustrations
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, half-tones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- Sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, PSD or PDF format only
- Submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files
Color Reproduction
Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Color art can be purchased for online only reproduction or for print C online reproduction. Color reprints can only be ordered if print C online reproduction costs are paid. Rates for color art reproduction are: Online Only Reproduction: $225 for the first page of color; $100 for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than four pages of color. A maximum charge of $525 applies. Print C Online Reproduction: $900 for the first page of color; $450 for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than four pages of color. Art not supplied at a minimum of 300 dpi will not be considered for print.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed and double-spaced on a separate sheet.
References
References must be typed on a separate sheet and numbered consecutively in the order of their first appearance in the text. Within the text, the reference numbers should be set in brackets [ ]. The references, on the separate sheet, should use the format from the Chicago Manual of Style (most current edition). See examples provided below:
