For All Manuscripts
Language - All manuscripts must be written in American English. Contributors with a non-English native language are encouraged to seek the help of a competent linguist who is familiar with medical terminology prior to submission. It is the author's responsibility to have the language revised before submitting the work for publication. Only minor language revisions are provided after submission.
Title page –Title page, including manuscript title, author(s)'s names and surnames, affiliation(s), corresponding author's name, address, fax and e-mail; must be uploaded separately on Manuscript Central.
Abstract - Structure your Abstract under the headings Background, Purpose, Material and Methods, Results, Conclusion. It is preferred that abstracts do not exceed 300 words. Submit your abstract both in the abstract text box on Manuscript Central and within the manuscript text file.
Keywords – Choose three to six key words, from the drop down list on Acta Radiologica Manuscript Central, and preferably expressions not already used in the title of your article. It is preferred that you pick at least one keyword from each of 6 subject headings on the key word list. Please also include the keywords within your manuscript text file after the abstract.
Spell out non-standard abbreviations at their first mention in the text followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Avoid uncommon abbreviations and clinical jargon. Do not use footnotes, but instead incorporate the information in parentheses within the main text. Supply figure legends, tables and their headings on a separate page. Revise your article carefully and remove inessential material before you upload it at Acta Radiologica Manuscript Central. Carefully review the PDF file that will be created automatically by the Manuscript Central system and especially check the order of figures and tables in the document before you submit it.
Correspondence and Short Communications - Short reports, not exceeding two or three journal pages, can be fast-tracked to publication in Acta Radiologica. These are original studies on limited subjects, or, occasionally, interesting cases. Arrange the manuscript according to the instructions for full-length reports, but keep the length of the Introduction and Discussion to a minimum. Casual observations, the application of diagnostic or therapeutic measures or, for instance, modifications of procedures, are published in the journal as Correspondence (maximum 600 words, i.e. one printed page). Arrange the manuscript in the style of a Letter to the Editor, without subheadings, and list no more than five references. If necessary, include one short table or one single column-width illustration. The editorial processing of manuscripts for correspondence and short communications is rapid. When submitting these types of studies at Acta Radiologica Manuscript Central, write N/A in the abstract box.
Units and Mathematics - Use the International System of Units (SI). Enter a zero preceding a decimal value below 1 (i.e. 0.123). Display mathematical expressions distinctly. In hand-written equations on scanned documents, distinguish e from c, u from n, and r from v, and capitals and lower case letters that are often indistinguishable when hand-written; also primes and apostrophes. Use the solidus (/) for fractions and exp (...) when the exponent is complicated. In displayed formulae, the horizontal fraction line is to be preferred.
Illustrations - Upload illustrations (figures) in digital format, in TIFF or EPS format. Scale the elements of composite illustrations uniformly to facilitate reproduction and overall appearance on the printed page. The files should have the same tonal relations as the original (for example, conventional angiographic films, white vessels on dark background; the reverse for subtraction films), with the patient's right to the reader's left; this obtains also for CT images and other transverse images. Include lettering and arrows within the confines of the pictures if possible. Make sure that lettering is large enough to be legible after photographic reduction. For all illustrations, use the following file naming format: "fig <figure no> ". Figures need to be submitted with an image resolution of at least 300 DPI, so that we can guarantee the legibility of the figure in the printed journal.
References - References should follow the Vancouver format. In the text they should appear as numbers starting at 1. At the end of the paper they should be listed (double-spaced) in numerical order corresponding to the order of citation in the text. All authors should be quoted for papers with up to six authors; for papers with more than six authors, list the first six followed by 'et al'. Abbreviations for titles of medical periodicals should conform to those used in the latest edition of Index Medicus. The first and last page numbers for each reference must be provided. Abstracts and letters must be identified as such. Articles that have been accepted for publication but not yet published should be listed as 'in press'.

Author proofs – final approval
Authors will be notified via e-mail when a manuscript is ready for final approval before publication. This e-mail provides instructions on how to log on to the online author service, where the final version of the manuscript can be downloaded as a printer ready PDF file.
To avoid delays of publication, proofs should be checked immediately and returned electronically through the online service, following the instructions given. Corrections submitted via the telephone are not accepted. Authors are advised that they are responsible for proof-reading of the text, references, tables and figures for absolute accuracy.
Additional material or major corrections cannot be accepted at this stage, nor is substantial rewriting of paragraphs permitted. Such extensive changes may result in a delay or withdrawal of the article from publication. Any costs arising from major additional changes may also be charged to the authors.

It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights of the contents of their articles, including abstracts, to Informa Healthcare. This enables full copyright protection and dissemination of the article and the Journal, to the widest possible readership in electronic and print formats.
