Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Ideally, manuscripts should be between 3000 and 5000 words but longer items will be considered on their merit. These should be sent electronically to the Editor at M.Brundrett@ljmu.ac.uk. Where this is not possible, 2 copies of the article, with any illustrations, should be submitted to: Professor Mark Brundrett, Liverpool John Moores University, Faculty of Education, Community & Leisure, I M Marsh Campus, Barkhill Road, Aigburth, Liverpool, L17 6BD, UK.

Articles should be original, and written in a clear, straightforward style, avoiding technical jargon wherever possible. Illustrations and examples of children's work are welcomed. Authors should bear in mind that they will be addressing an international audience. Conceptual theoretical items are welcomed but authors should consider the implications of their work in relation to primary and middle school practice. All pages should be numbered. To allow for anonymous refereeing, all submissions must be properly formatted for blind reviewing. Authors' names and institutions should be typed on a separate sheet and submitted with the manuscript. The full postal and email address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and offprints should also be included. Footnotes should be avoided where possible.

Each paper should be accompanied on separate sheets by an abstract of 60 to 100 words, and a short note of biographical details of each author for 'Notes on Contributors'.

Articles submitted to Education 3-13 should not be under consideration by any other journal, or have been published elsewhere, and the letter accompanying the submission of any manuscript should contain a clear statement to this effect.

Tables and captions to illustrations - Tables must be typed out on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Figures - Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.
