Instructions for Authors
*** Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is included in all journal communication.***
Authors are invited to submit reports of original educational research, reviews of recent research in particular areas, or discussion articles on research topics. Articles should begin with a structured abstract and up to six keywords, and should not normally exceed 5,000 words. The abstract is not included in the word count. (Please see our separate instructions about structured abstracts for more information.) Shorter articles (less than 4000 words) or articles with a restricted appeal to our readership may be accepted for publication as short reports provided they meet appropriate quality standards.
As well as the intrinsic interest of the article, conciseness and clarity are important considerations. Technical jargon should be avoided, and, where possible, statistical data should be summarized in the text, although tables and figures may be included if they are clearly presented. Authors are encouraged to describe their findings in terms intelligible to the non-expert reader.
Articles should be word processed (Microsoft Word is preferred) and should be submitted by email to Jane Lever at edresteam@nfer.ac.uk. If electronic submission is not possible, please send the article on floppy disk, together with one hard copy to Jane Lever, National Foundation for Educational Research, The Mere, Upton Park, Slough, Berks, SL1 2DQ, UK. Please note that, if your article is accepted for publication, you will need email access for receipt of your proofs.
Articles are only accepted for review on the basis that they are not being submitted elsewhere for publication. All articles submitted to the journal are subject to review in accordance with our peer review policy.
Publication rights are reserved. Photocopying is permitted under the terms set out at the foot of the title page. In all other circumstances, permission to reproduce or translate must be obtained in writing from the Publisher.
