Instructions for Authors

This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below.

Separation & Purification Reviews provides comprehensive summaries and interdisciplinary viewpoints of significant developments in all areas of separation and purification, including innovative methods, apparatus, theories, and applications. The journal presents reviews that cover a large amount of scientific/technical information in a concise organized manner on topics such as adsorption, centrifugation, chromatography, crystallization, distillation, extraction, filtration, ion exchange, membrane separations, and more.
Submission of Manuscripts
All materials must be typed (12-point font) and double-spaced on 8.5 x 11 inch white paper with 1¼-inch margins. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 35 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of no more that 100-150 words. Authors must give approximately five key words that identify the most important subjects covered by the paper.
Notes and References
Include only references to books, articles and bulletins actually cited in the text. References in the text should cite the author's last name, year of publication, and page (where appropriate). Examples of reference in the reference list:
Journal: Hale, G.M. and Querry, M.R. (1973) Optical constants of water in the 200 um wavelenght region. Appl. Opt., 12: 555-563.
Book: Conway, W.D. (1990) Coutercurrent Chromatography: Apparatus, Theory, and Applications; VCH Publishers: Weinheim, Germany.
Spelling and Hyphenation
The authority is Webster's Unabridged Dictionary.
Affiliation
On the title page, include full name of the authors, academic or professional affiliations, a brief running head, and the complete address (including email address) of the person to whom proofs and correspondence should be sent.
Tables
Tables shoud be clearly typed with double spacing. Number tables with consecutive Arabic numerals and give a clear descriptive heading. Avoid the use of vertical rules in tables. Table footnotes should be typed below the table, designated by superior lower-case letters. A list of captions should be typed on a separate sheet and included with the typescript.
Illustration
Figures submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
- submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Each corresponding author of an article will receive a PDF file of the article via email. This file is for personal use only and may not be copied and disseminated in any form without prior written permission from Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
