Aims and Scope

The journal Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology is devoted to preclinical and clinical studies about the regulatory effects of various agents on immunocompetent cells as well as the immunotoxicity exerted by xenobiotics and drugs. On these bases, the journal encompasses a broad range of pathologies (e.g., acute and chronic infections, allergy, autoimmunity, cancer, degenerative disorders, inflammation and primary and secondary immunodeficiencies). In this framework, the journal will cover new emerging areas of science of broad interest, such as: agricultural Biotechnology; atherosclerosis; cytokine and growth factor regulation; dendritic cell therapy; food immunology; food safety; forensic immunopathology; innate immunity regulation; life style disorders; microbial immunomodulators; mucosal immunity; new drug development; psychoneuroimmunology; stem cell therapy; veterinary immunopathology; vaccines.

Therefore, the journal will represent an inestimable source of information either for scientists of various disciplines, such as immunology, pharmacology, toxicology, agriculture, biotechnology, chemistry, molecular biology, and veterinary, or for the broad spectrum of clinicians involved in immunological research.

Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicologywill accept original manuscripts, brief communications, invited reviews, and clinical cases, on the condition that the results reported are based on original, clinical, or basic research that has not been published elsewhere in any journal in any language (except in abstract form relating to paper communicated to scientific meetings and symposiums). Each manuscript will be promptly reviewed and contributors informed as rapidly as possible as to the publication date.

Manuscript Submissions

Authors should submit their manuscripts (prepared according to the instructions below), including reproducible figures online via the journal's Manuscript Central site. Paper submissions will not be accepted. Files are preferred submitted with the text, and all table and figure files submitted as separate individual files.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Manuscript pages should be numbered consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text in the abstract.

References

Please cite in the text by number only, enclosed in parentheses. At the end of the article list references in the order they appear in the text. Footnotes should be included in the list of references.

Journal: Kanda, N.; Tsuchida, T.; Tamaki, K. Testosterone inhibits immunoglobulin production by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Clin. Exp. Immunol. 1996, 106 (2), 410–415.

Book: Chang, L.W.; Magos, L.; Suzuki, T.; Nordberg, G.F.; Furst, A. Toxicology of Metals; Lewis Publishers, Inc, 1996; Vol. 1.

Contribution to a Book: Smialowicz, R.J. Nickel. In Immunotoxicology of Environmental and Occupational Metals; Zelikoff, J.T., Thomas, P.T., Eds.; Taylor and Francis: London, 1998; 163–194.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be digital files. Digital files should follow these guidelines:

- 300 dpi or higher
- Sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, JPG, TIFF, or PSD format only
- Submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first page with color is $1000. The next three pages with color are $500 each. A custom quote will be provided for color art totaling more than four journal pages. Good quality digital color prints should be provided in their final size. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures (illustrations) should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet.

Proofs

Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Informa Healthcare's eProof system. They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt.

Reprints

The corresponding author of each article will receive one PDF of their article. Reprints of individual articles are available for order at the time authors review page proofs. A discount on reprints is available to authors who order before print publication.

Declaration of Interest

It is the policy of all Informa Healthcare, to adhere in principle to the Conflict of Interest policy recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) (http://www.icmje.org/index.html#conflict).

All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organisations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. It is the sole responsibility of authors to disclose any affiliation with any organisation with a financial interest, direct or indirect, in the subject matter or materials discussed in the manuscript (such as consultancies, employment, paid expert testimony, honoraria, speakers bureaus, retainers, stock options or ownership, patents or patent applications or travel grants) that may affect the conduct or reporting of the work submitted. All sources of funding for research are to be explicitly stated. If uncertain as to what might be considered a potential conflict of interest, authors should err on the side of full disclosure.

All submissions to the journal must include full disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest. If there are no conflicts of interest, authors should state that there are none. This must be stated at the point of submission (within the manuscript after the main text under a subheading "Declaration of interest" and where available within the appropriate field on the journal's Manuscript Central site). This may be made available to reviewers and will appear in the published article at the discretion of the Editors or Publisher.

If no conflict is declared, the following statement will be attached to all articles:

Declaration of interest: The authors report no conflicts of interest. The authors alone are responsible for the content and writing of the paper.

The intent of this policy is not to prevent authors with these relationships from publishing work, but rather to adopt transparency such that readers can make objective judgements on conclusions drawn.

NIH Public Access Policy

In consideration of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy, Informa Healthcare acknowledges that the broad and open dissemination of NIH-funded research results may benefit future scientific and medical research. Because we value the current and future contributions our journals make to the scientific body of knowledge, we have made certain that our policies accommodate those authors who wish to submit to PubMed Central.

Informa Healthcare's position with respect to public access to NIH-funded work published in Informa Healthcare journals is as follows:

  • Informa Healthcare authors may voluntarily submit their funded work to PubMed Central after a 12 month embargo period.
  • “Funded work” shall be defined as the final, peer-reviewed manuscript that is accepted by the Editor in Chief of the journal. This manuscript must not be altered by Publisher's copyediting and typesetting services.
  • This embargo period begins the day the work is published online at www.informaworld.com.
