Instructions for Authors
Aims and Scope
Language Assessment Quarterly: An International Journal (LAQ) is dedicated to the advancement of theory, research, and practice in first, second, and foreign language assessment for school, college, and university students; language assessment for employment; and language assessment for immigration and citizenship. LAQ publishes original articles addressing theoretical issues and empirical research related to language assessment, as well as interdisciplinary articles on related topics, and reports of language test development and testing practice. LAQ encourages novel ways of thinking about emerging issues (conceptual, empirical, clinical, historical, or methodological) and the use of varying research methodologies (quantitative, qualitative, or ethnographic) and narrative styles (research articles, essay reviews, interviews, and practitioner perspectives). All articles will be peer reviewed. The journal also includes commissioned book reviews, commentaries, short articles on practical test development, and occasional thematic article series (e.g., a thematic issue of the journal). Offers for these categories of publication are also welcome.
