Early Education & Development
Instructions for Authors
Scope:
Early Education and Development (EE&D) is a professional journal for those involved in educational and preschool services and research related to children and their families: early education supervisors, school psychologists, daycare administrators, child development specialists, developmental and child clinical psychologists, and special education administrators. It is designed to emphasize the implications for practice of research and solid scientific information.
EE&D is a connecting link between the research community in early education and child development and school district early education programs, daycare systems, and special needs preschool programs. It is a publication established as a continuing forum for research and general policy articles in the rapidly growing area of early education services for the preschool child.
The scope of EE&D includes normal, at-risk, and handicapped children, preschool and daycare programs, research on remedial programs, instructional and developmental techniques, school district and community policies, kindergarten screening, assessment devices and approaches, parental role and competencies, staff competencies, social and physical environment, school readiness, and early education and intervention.
Manuscript Submission:
EE&D is now using an online submission and review system, Editorial Manager, through which authors submit manuscripts and track their progress up until acceptance for publication. Authors will enter pertinent information into the system and submit the following files: (a) cover letter file containing any comments or reviewer requests to the editor; (b) manuscript file (Word or WordPerfect format [PC compatible]) containing the entire text of the article, including title page, abstract, all text, references, footnotes, and appendixes; (c) figures and tables, which may be submitted either as separate files or as part of the aforementioned manuscript file. Please log on to http://www.editorialmanager.com/eed for information and instructions regarding registration and manuscript submission. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the guidelines in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.). To facilitate blind review, authors' names and affiliations should not appear on the title page or elsewhere in the manuscript file (they can be keyed into the system and placed on a separate page in the cover letter file). Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work and for obtaining permission from copyright owners to reprint or adapt a table or figure or to reprint quotations from one source exceeding the limits of fair use. Authors should write to both the author(s) and the publisher of such material to request nonexclusive world rights in all languages for use in the article and in future editions of it.
Please note that abstracts must be no more than 200 words and divided into two sections: (a) research findings and (b) practice or policy.
Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to the publisher will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication.
Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Taylor & Francis' Central Article Tracking System (CATS). They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Reprints of individual articles are available for order when authors review page proofs. A discount for reprints is available to authors who order before print publication.
