AIMS and SCOPE
Cell Communication and Adhesion provides a central forum for publication of research studies on all aspects of cell communication, cell-cell, cell-extracellular matrix interactions, related cell signaling pathways and downstream cellular processes. Studies using approaches in systems biology, tissue engineering, bioengineering, functional imaging, or with biomedical and disease relevance are welcome. The journal will publish full length research articles (8-12 printed pages), short reports (Rapid Communications; 4-6 pages), technical reports (Technical Advances; 4-12 pages), genomic, microarray, and proteomic studies (Proteomic and Genomic Profiles; 4-12 pages), invited reviews (Reviews; 8-12 pages), and invited articles on emerging concepts and paradigms (Perspectives; 46 pages). MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
Submission. Authors must submit manuscript electronically in PDF file format. The entire manuscript including text, references, legends, tables and figures should be included in a single PDF document. Submit your complete PDF file as an e-mail attachment to CellCommunicationAdhesion@gmail.com. Include the journal name, article title, your contact information within the text of the e-mail, and add the word "Submission" to the subject. The authors can incorporate the contents of the cover letter in this email message or include the cover letter as the first page of the PDF document. Authors that are unable to submit electronically may petition for alternate arrangements by contacting the editor-in-chief at: CellCommunicationAdhesion@gmail.com. However, this will significantly delay the review process. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published previously and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Author s ar e responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher.
Manuscript Review. Authors may suggest potential reviewers in their submission cover letter (please provide institution affiliation and contact information) and indicate if there is preference for the submission to be considered for a particular section of the journal. Manuscripts that are submitted in digital form will be expeditiously reviewed, and accepted articles will be published within three months of the close of issue. Manuscript subject to revision must be resubmitted within three months, unless a waiver is requested and granted by the Editor. Manuscripts deemed inappropriate will be returned immediately upon the decision of the Editor.
Presentation. The order of presentation is Title Page, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Figure Legends, Tables, and Figures. The Title Page should contain the title, author names, complete author affiliations, keywords (up to six), and complete address for corresponding author including email address, telephone and fax numbers. Also include a running title not exceeding 50 character spaces. Non-standard abbreviations should be defined when first used in the manuscript. All parts of the manuscript should be double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages at the bottom of each page. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more that 150 words. Avoid abbreviations within the abstract. Manuscript text should be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
Headings. Headings should be set over the left-hand margin and text should begin on the next line. For example: FIRST LEVEL HEADINGS Second-Level Headings Third-level headings with text run on line directly after heading (only initial letter is capitalized)
References. Identify references in the text by authors' last name and year, and alphabetically in the Reference Section. References should include: names of all contributing authors (last names first); title of article; title of journal (abbreviate according to the style of Index Medicus) or book; volume number; location and name of publishing company (books only); inclusive pages; and year of publication.

Tables and Figures. Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate pages at the end of the manuscript text file after the references. A short, descriptive title should appear above each table with any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be incorporated within the PDF file and completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Figure legends should be included in the manuscript text file as indicated above.
Database Submission of Sequence. Accepted manuscripts with a nucleotide or amino acid sequence must be deposited in GenBank or EMBL. This can be done on line via the URL: http://www.ebi.ac.uk/embl/Submission/webin.html (for EMBL) or http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/BankIt/ (f or GenBank) Please be sure to include the accession number in the manuscript. Submission of Supplementary Information. Supplementary information such as video or animation sequences, supporting figures or tables, and Appendix information on methods may be submitted for inclusion in the manuscript Such material must be submitted as separate files with the manuscript PDF for review. Please append the name Supplementary 1, 2, 3, etc. to each file, and for video/ animation sequences indicate software that may be used to view the movie clips.
ACCEPTED MANUSCRIPTS
The final accepted manuscript PDF file must be submitted together with the manuscript text file in Word format. In addition, each figure is to be submitted as a separate JPG or TIFF file. Please see guidelines below for the submission of illustrations. All files are to be submitted as e-mail attachments to: CellCommunicationAdhesion@gmail.com.
Include the journal name, manuscript number, article title, your contact information within the text of the e-mail, and add the word "CCA XXXX Accepted" to the subject line, where XXXX is your CCA manuscript number. For the manuscript text, the file name will start with CCA followed by the manuscript number and ending in TEXT and this file should also include references, legends and tables. For figures, the same file naming convention is used except that in place of TEXT, append FIG1, FIG2, etc. For example, if your manuscript is assigned CCA106, then the manuscript text file will be called, CCA106TEXT, while the files for each figure will be named CCA106FIG1,2, 3, etc. If there is supplementary information, this should be submitted with the file name, CCA106Supp1, 2, 3, etc. All supplementary information will be accessible via the on line journal. Please note that no single file should be larger than 2 MB. Illustrations. Line drawings, halftones, photos, and photomicrographs should be submitted as digital files using the following guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
- submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files
The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable. Limited free color illustrations are available for the print publication at the Editor's discretion. Further information will be provided upon request.
Proofs and Reprints. The corresponding author will receive proofs, which should be proofread and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections are limited to printer's errors-no substantial author's changes will be made. Each corresponding author of an article will receive 25 free reprints upon registration with Rightslink, our authorized reprint provider. Authors will need to create a unique account and register for this free service. Complimentary prints are not available post publication.
