Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Editorial correspondence should be submitted to Helen Nicholson, Department of Drama and Theatre, Royal Holloway, University of London, Egham, Surrey TW20 0EX, UK. Email: H.Nicholson@rhul.ac.uk.

Papers should normally be around 5000 words in length, but longer or shorter articles will be considered. Authors should send their papers electronically by email attachment. Where this is not possible, three complete copies of each manuscript should be submitted. They should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced, with ample margins and bear the title of the contribution. Where the submission of three copies would prove prohibitively expensive, in exceptional circumstances an e-mail attachment or computer disc (Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format) will be accepted. In order to guarantee blind review the name(s) of the author(s), a 60 word biography and the address where the work was carried out should only appear on a separate first page. Each article should be accompanied by an abstract/summary of 200-300 words, also on a separate sheet. The full postal address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and offprints should also be included. All pages should be numbered. Footnotes to the text should be avoided. It is essential that references are laid out as shown below.

Rejected manuscripts will not normally be returned to contributors.

Ideas for Special Issues should be addressed to Joe Winston, University of Warwick, Institute of Education , Coventry CV4 7AL, UK. E-mail: j.a.winston@warwick.ac.uk

Books for Review should be sent to Colette Conroy, School of English and Drama, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Lane, Bristol BS16 1QY, UK. E-mail: Colette.Conroy@uwe.ac.uk

Points and Practices contributions should be sent to James Thompson, Martin Harris Centre, School of Arts Histories and Cultures, University of Manchester, Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9PL. E-mail: james.thompson@man.ac.uk

Reviews of Conferences should be sent to Colette Conroy, School of English and Drama, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Lane, Bristol BS16 1QY, UK. E-mail: Colette.Conroy@uwe.ac.uk

Tables and captions to illustrations. Tables must be typed out on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables should be numbered by Roman numerals and figures by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Figures. Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.

Photographs. Reproduced in black and white only. Colour photographs may be sent if they are suitable for reproduction in monochrome. Important archive photographs should be copied rather than sent in their original form. Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright clearance.

UK spelling (e.g. colour, organise) and punctuation are preferred (single quotation marks with double within if needed).
This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.

If you have any questions about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk (please mention the journal title in your email).

Non-discriminatory writing. Please ensure that writing is free from avoidable gender, racial and other bias. The sometimes cumbersome device of s/he or his/her may be avoided by using gender specific terms in equal measure of plural forms.

We strongly encourage you to send the final, revised version of your article, electronically, by email. More help and guidelines on submitting articles already accepted for publication. Please note that this information applies only to authors whose articles have been reviewed, revised, and accepted for publication.

Proofs will be sent to authors if there is sufficient time to do so. They should be corrected and returned to the Editor within three days. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.

Free article access: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk
