Instructions for Authors

ScholarOne Manuscripts
This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below.

Contributors should note that the material submitted to the journal must be original, must not have appeared in another publication and must not be submitted for publication elsewhere while under consideration for the journal. Papers accepted become the copyright of the journal, unless otherwise specifically agreed.

Manuscript preparation

1. General guidelines

  • Research Articles should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words long and should include an abstract of not more than one hundred and fifty words.
  • Communications. Global Change, Peace & Security also publishes shorter reflective pieces (4,000 maximum), research reports, news commentaries and replies to research articles.
  • Any consistent spelling style is acceptable. Use single quotation marks with double within if needed.
  • This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.
  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; 4-6 keywords; main text; acknowledgments; appendixes (as appropriate); references; table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figure caption(s) (as a list).
  • All the authors of a paper should include their full names, affiliations, postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers and email addresses on the cover page of the manuscript. One author should be identified as the Corresponding Author.
  • Citations of other work should be limited to those strictly necessary for the argument. Any quotations should be brief, and accompanied by precise references.

3. Figures

Tables, Figures, Maps and Captions to illustrations. Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures and maps will not normally be redrawn by the publisher. Tables must be presented on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also included on a separate sheet. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols. It is the responsibility of authors wishing to reproduce copyrighted work to gain permission from the holder.

Manuscript submission

All submissions should be made online at the Global Change, Peace & Security Manuscript Central Site. New users should first create an account. Once logged on to the site, submissions should be made via the Author Centre. Online user guides and access to a helpdesk are available on this website.

Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review”.

Manuscripts may be submitted in any standard format, including Word, PostScript and PDF. These files will be automatically converted into a PDF file for the review process. This journal does not accept Microsoft Word 2007 documents. Please use Word's "Save As" option to save your document as an older (.doc) file type.

Copyright and authors' rights

It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at http://journalauthors.tandf.co.uk/preparation/copyright.asp. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources. Exceptions are made for certain Governments' employees whose policies require that copyright cannot be transferred to other parties. We ask that a signed statement to this effect is submitted when returning proofs for accepted papers.
