Instructions for Authors

The Editors seek manuscripts that make contributions to critical thinking and progressive politics, and which fit the following criteria:

  1. The manuscript must be submitted to the Editor as an e-mail attachment in Word or WordPerfect.
  2. Manuscripts should be double-spaced
  3. Submitted works should not normally exceed 10,000 words.
  4. Submitted works should be accompanied by an abstract of approximately 150 words.
  5. Submitted works should be accompanied by a brief autobiographical sketch of the author(s) of around 25 words.
  6. All footnotes should appear at the bottom of the page and be numbered consecutively. Full citations should be presented within footnotes using the following examples as guidelines:

BOOKS: Michael Mann, Incoherent Empire (London and New York: Verso, 2003), p. 123.

ARTICLES: R. Claire Snyder, "Radical Civic Virtue: Women in 19th Century Civil Society," New Political Science 26:1 (2004), pp. 51-69.

Ibid. and Op. cit. may be used.

Manuscripts accepted for review are evaluated by a minimum of two scholars active in the field. Because we use anonymous peer reviews, anything that identifies the author on the title page or in the headers, citations, acknowledgements or anywhere else must be removed. Manuscripts accepted for publication must be submitted in Word or WordPerfect. Authors are expected to return clearly identified corrections within three working days of receipt of proofs. Major alterations cannot be accepted at the proofs stage.

Manuscripts should be submitted to: Joseph G. Peschek, Editor, New Political Science, Department of Political Science, Hamline University, 1536 Hewitt Avenue Saint Paul, MN 55104-1284. E-mail: jpeschek@gw.hamline.edu

Book review queries may be sent to: Mark S. Mattern, Reviews Editor, New Political Science Department of Political Science, Baldwin Wallace College, 275 Eastland Road, Berea, OH 44017. E-mail: mmattern@bw.edu

In the spirit of supportive criticism, we welcome all correspondence and responses to published articles, and will upon occasion publish such pieces with permission of the author(s).

Free article access: Corresponding authors can receive 50 free reprints, free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Complimentary reprints are available through Rightslink® and additional reprints can be ordered through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk

Copyright: It is a condition of publication that authors vest copyright in their articles, including abstracts, in Caucus for a New Political Science. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and the journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from Taylor & Francis, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as the original source of publication, and that Taylor & Francis is notified so that our records show that its use is properly authorised. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
