Instructions for Authors

Articles submitted to Mentoring & Tutoring: Partnership in Learning should not be under consideration by any other journal, or have been published elsewhere, and the email accompanying the submission of any manuscript should contain a clear statement to this effect.

Manuscripts: Manuscripts should be generated using Microsoft Word, double-spaced, no longer than 30 pages in length (counting References and all tables and figures), Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, 1 inch margins, and the names of authors NOT included on the actual manuscript. (Manuscripts exceeding this maximum cannot be accommodated.) Anonymous identifiers for authors should be used. The American Psychological Association (APA) style (6th edition) must be used to format the entire manuscript, both those being submitted for review and those being prepared for publication.

An abstract of 100-150 words should be included. The e-mail address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and offprints should also be included. All pages should be numbered. Footnotes to the text should be avoided wherever this is reasonably possible.

A separate Microsoft Word document should be prepared as a cover letter, including all authors' names and professional affiliations, with all authors' full contact information (mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, and fax number, and the title of the manuscript).

All three documents (a) the manuscript, (b) the cover letter, and (c) the abstract (placed at the beginning of the manuscript) should be submitted via NCPEA Publications at: http://www.ncpeapublications.org

Following are the directions for how to submit:

Since the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration is co-sponsoring the M&T Journal, we will be using their page for submissions.  Go to NCPEA Publications at: http://www.ncpeapublications.org  And click on M&T Journal from the Menu of Buttons on the top of the page.  The submitting link is on the M&T Journal Home Page.  Click the link that says “Click Here to Submit Manuscript.”  You will be asked for your User ID and Password.  Just below that box, there is link that indicates, “Register here” if you do not have a User ID and Password.  You will need that to be able to submit the manuscript.  When you log in, then you will see a tab across the top of the page, “My submissions” where you will be able to find another link that indicates, “Click here to submit a document.”

Upon receipt, manuscripts deemed by the editor as potentially appropriate for the Journal will then be sent to two external reviewers. The lead author will receive an e-mail notification if the manuscript is sent out for review. Blind reviews will be shared with the lead author through the NCPEA Publications electronic FastTrack system with one of three notifications from the editor—that the manuscript has been accepted pending minor revisions (this happens only rarely), that the submission is rejected with a request for revisions/resubmission for further consideration of the manuscript, or that the manuscript is rejected.

Book Reviews should be no more than 2,000 words and should be submitted in the same manner as the manuscripts:

Tables and captions to illustrations: Tables must be typed out on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables should follow APA 6th edition.
Figures. Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.

As an author, you are required to secure permission if you want to reproduce any figure, table, or extract from the text of another source. This applies to direct reproduction as well as "derivative reproduction" (where you have created a new figure or table which derives substantially from a copyrighted source). For further information and FAQs, please see http://journalauthors.tandf.co.uk/preparation/permission.asp
Citations of other work should be limited to those strictly necessary for the argument. Any quotations should be brief, and accompanied by precise references.

Style guidelines:
Description of the journal's article and reference style
This journal allows UK or US spelling. Please follow the APA Manual, 6th Edition for punctuation. This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.
For information about writing an article, preparing your manuscript and general guidance for authors, please visit the Author Services section of our website.

If you have any questions about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk  (please mention the journal title in your email).

All transactions with the revised manuscripts are to occur within the NCPEA Publications FastTrack system.  Please note when resubmitting that the manuscript is a resubmit.
Proofs will be sent to authors if there is sufficient time to do so. They should be corrected and returned to the Publisher via the NCPEA Publications FastTrack within three days and should be noted as the final revision or resubmission.

Free article access: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through the journal website and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at http://journalauthors.tandf.co.uk/preparation/copyright.asp.
