Instructions for Authors

Information for Contributors:

Journal of Peace Education (JPE) will publish three types of contributions:

Refereed Papers

JPE welcomes articles from all regions and cultures, although articles must be submitted in English. Manuscripts of 5000-9000 words double-spaced, with pages numbered, should be sent to:
Dr Jeannie Lum, Matsunaga Institute for Peace, University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA  Email: jlum@hawaii.edu

Authors should submit three complete copies of each manuscript and one electronic copy (disc or email attachment pref. in Word). Authors from the global South initially may submit one copy in either electronic or hard copy forms. An abstract of 100-200 words should accompany papers.

All papers will be distributed without author identification to two reviewers. Final acceptance of papers for publication will be subject to required changes being made by authors. Final versions of the paper must be submitted in electronic form.

A separate sheet should include a short note of biographical details and the full postal, fax and email addresses of the author.

Style guidelines
Description of the Journal's article style
Description of the Journal's reference style, Quick guide

This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.
If you have any questions about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk (please mention the journal title in your email).

Reviews

Reviews of publications on topics related to the Journal's aim and scope should be submitted in electronic form only to JPE Review Editor Dr. Anita Wenden at wenden@rcn.com Reviews should be 800 - 1000 words in length, describe the content and scope of the book as it applies to peace education, and evaluate its relevance to the field.

Submission format for reviews is the same as for articles.

Special Features

JPE
invites notices of new resources in peace education, brief reports and summaries of research and innovations in peace education as well as readers' commentaries on current practices and responses to articles and reviews. Notices, commentaries and responses should not exceed 400 words. These should be sent to JPE Special Features Editor:

Dr. Ilse Hakvoort, Department of Education, Goteburg University, Box 300
SE 405 30 Goteburg ,Sweden.
Email: Ilse.Hakvoort@ped.gu.se.

Submission format for special features is the same as for articles.

Tables, illustrations and figures Authors must obtain permission to reproduce illustrations when necessary, and pay the relevant copyright fees and other costs. Such or any other kind of illustration, as well as Tables and Figures, should be submitted on separate sheets and not included in the text of the article. Figures will not be redrawn by the publisher. Accordingly, they should be submitted in a form that is suitable for publication. The place at which a table, figure or illustration is to be inserted in the printed text should be indicated clearly on the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Style Write clearly and concisely, using arguments that are fully substantiated with well-reasoned analysis and, where appropriate, empirical evidence. All acronyms for national agencies, examinations, etc. should be spelled out the first time they are mentioned. Contributors are asked to take account of the international readership of the Journal of Peace Education by explaining in full the use of terms that might be meaningful only to a particular local or national audience. For all manuscripts, non-discriminatory language is mandatory.

Citations of other work should be limited to those strictly necessary for the argument. Any quotations should be brief, and always accompanied by precise references.

We strongly encourage you to send the final, revised version of your article, electronically, by email. More help and guidelines on submitting articles already accepted for publication. Please note that this information applies only to authors whose articles have been reviewed, revised, and accepted for publication.

Proofs will be sent to the authors for correction, and should be returned to the publisher within three days of receipt. Major alterations to the text at this stage will not be accepted.

Free article access: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk

Copyright: It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at www.informaworld.com/authors_journals_copyright_position. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
