Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

  1. Submissions. One copy of all articles for consideration should be sent to the Editor, Dr. Monica J. Taylor, Journal of Moral Education, PO Box 7417, Wakes Colne, Colchester, CO6 2WS, UK. Please also send one disc copy in Word format or email a copy to: jmoraled@onetel.com. Papers accepted become the copyright of Journal of Moral Education Ltd unless otherwise specifically agreed.

     

  2. Length. Articles should be no longer than 6000 words in length.

     

     

  3. Layout. Manuscripts should be typed in 1.5 line spacing, on A4 paper, with wide margins. Only the first page of the article should bear the title, the name(s) of the author(s), professional status and the address to which proofs should be sent. Please include your email or FAX on the covering page. In order to enable 'blind' refereeing please do not include author(s) names as running heads.

     

  4. Abstract. Each article should be accompanied by an abstract of about 150 words typed on a separate sheet.

     

     

  5. Headings. Where necessary, the organisation of the article should be made clear by sub- and sub-sub-headings.

     

  6. Notes to the text should be kept to an absolute minimum. They should be typed on a separate section at the end of the article, numbered 1, 2, etc. and the text reference indicated by the corresponding number as a superscript.

     

  7. Quotations exceeding five lines from other works and other matter requiring separation from the text should be indented at both margins with a space above and below. Authors are reminded that the permission of the relevant publisher should be sought and an acknowledgement made for the reproduction of copyright material in excess of 100 words.

     

  8. Tables should be typed on separate sheets at the end of the typescript. Their position in the text should be clearly indicated. Tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals and should carry a descriptive title. Vertical rules should be avoided.

     

  9. Illustrations should be submitted in a form suitable for publication. Figures should be numbered with Arabic numerals, titled and their position indicated in the text.

     

  10. References should be indicated in the text by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full at the end of the paper in the following standard form:

     

    For articles: Bergem, T. (1990) The teacher as moral agent, Journal of Moral Education, 19, pp. 88-100.
    For books: Finis, J. (1986) Natural law and natural rights (Oxford, Oxford University Press).
    For chapters within books: Messick, D. M. (1985) Social interdependence and decision making,
    in: G. Wright (Ed.) Behavioural decision making (New York, Plenum), pp. 87-109

    Titles of journals should not be abbreviated. Contributors are requested to limit their references to a maximum of 20.

  11. Oppressive Language. Contributors should avoid sexist, racist, disabilist or otherwise oppressive language. The Editor reserves the right to attend to any such insensitive language.

  12. We strongly encourage you to send the final, revised version of your article, electronically, by email. More help and guidelines on submitting articles already accepted for publication. Please note that this information applies only to authors whose articles have been reviewed, revised, and accepted for publication.

     

  13. Alterations will not be permitted at proof stage apart from the correction of printer's errors.

     

  14. Return of articles is not guaranteed.

     

  15. Free article access: Corresponding authors can receive 50 free reprints, free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article.   18. Copyright. It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or licence the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to the Journal of Moral Education Ltd.
