Papers accepted become the copyright of the Journal of Education for Teaching unless specifically agreed otherwise with authors.

Publishing Policy

The Journal of Education for Teaching publishes original contributions on the subject of teacher education in its widest sense: initial preparation, further professional education and staff development. Contributions may comprise scholarly discussion of new issues, reports of research, reviews of research in particular fields, reports of developments and contributions to debate on teacher education generally or on specific issues. Manuscripts should normally be no longer than 6000 words. Short statements concerning research in progress (normally up to 300 words) are invited for JET's ‘Research Notice-board'. Short accounts of innovatory practice (normally up to 600 words) are invited for the JET ‘In Practice' section. Rejoinders to articles are welcome as a contribution to debate among teacher educators.

Papers are accepted for consideration on the understanding that they are original and not, in any way, in breach of copyright and also that authors grant the editor and publisher the right to republish contributions or allow their republication by others including publication in microform. Any financial returns from such publications are the property of the author.

Please use British spelling (e.g. colour, organise) and punctuation. Use single quotation marks with double within if needed.
This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.
If you have any questions about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk (please mention the journal title in your email).

Note particularly the following items:

1.)  Cover page with:
• name and precise postal and e-mail address of all authors,
• corresponding author identified
• number of words (excluding references) indicated

2.) Abstract on separate page with no title

3.) Level of headings clearly indicated

4.) Comprehensible to an international readership

5.) Acronyms explained

6.) References as indicated on the web page.

7.) No sexist language. Use ‘they' or ‘their'

8.) Editorial and printer's convention observed

9.) Paginated

10.) Double spaced and single-
       sided

11.) Plain type face

12.) Age-grade equivalents explained

13.) Very economical use of citations

Review Process

Contributions will be acknowledged by the editor upon receipt. Papers that conform to JET guidelines are sent to reviewers whose expertise conforms to the subject of the article, drawn from an international panel. JET uses a system of double-blind reviews in addition to review by the editorial board. The names of referees are published in issue 1 of each volume of JET.
 
‘Research Notice-Board' and ‘In Practice' Sections

In addition to refereed articles, JET will publish papers normally no longer than 300 words in the ‘Research Notice-board'. This section comprises short statements about research in progress with contact addresses and fax numbers so that communication with people working in the same fields will be enhanced. The ‘In Practice' section comprises statements normally no longer than 600 words about approaches to teacher education that may be innovatory or interesting in some way. Such contributions would not exclude cautionary tales to warn others.

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to authors if there is sufficient time to do so. They should be corrected and returned within three days. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.

Early Electronic Offprints

Early Electronic Offprints: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in Journal of Education for Teaching can be purchased through Rightslink(R) when proofs are received or alternatively on our journals website.
