European Journal of Teacher Education:
Criteria used in the evaluation of articles submitted for consideration for publication
Potential contributors to the European Journal of Teacher Education may find it helpful,
prior to submitting an article for consideration, to be aware of the criteria applied in the
selection of articles for publication.
Every article received for consideration for the European Journal of Teacher Education is read
by the editor, as well as by two additional members of the editorial board.
In making judgements on the quality of an article, the editorial panel employ the following
criteria:
clarity of expression;
economy of exposition;
methodological adequacy;
organisation of content;
theoretical and practical importance;
relevance and interest;
originality/new perspective(s);
linkages with other related issues;
adequacy of language used (by authors not writing in their mother tongue).
Clearly, not every criterion may be applicable to every single article, but the criteria above
are rigorously applied where appropriate.
Once an article has been selected for eventual publication, the speed with which it can be
published may well relate to the extent to which the manuscript has already been prepared
strictly according to the guidelines given in the Instructions for Authors on the journal's web
site
The decision of the editor on the acceptance of articles is final and no correspondence can be
entered into on reasons for the rejection of a submitted contribution. It is hoped that this
information will be of help.
