This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below.

The instructions below are specifically directed at authors that wish to submit a manuscript to Community, Work & Family. For general information, please visit our  Author Services website.

Electronic Submission. All submissions should be made online at the Community, Work & Family ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.

Contributions to Community, Work & Family must report original research and will be subjected to review by referees at the discretion of the Editorial Office.

Community, Work & Family welcomes original contributions from all parts of the world on the understanding that their contents have not previously been published nor submitted elsewhere for publication. All submissions will be sent anonymously to independent referees. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources. There are no page charges.

Manuscripts may be in the form of: (i) regular articles (between 5,000 and 10,000 words); or, (ii) short reports for rapid publication (not exceeding 2,000 words); or, (iii) personal accounts for the ‘Voices' section (not exceeding 2,000 words).

All submissions should be in the style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition). Papers should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced throughout (including the references), with margins of at least 2.5 cm (1 inch). All pages must be numbered. The first page should include the title of the paper, first name, middle initial(s) and last name of the author(s), and for each author a short institutional address, and an abbreviated title (for running headlines within the article). At the bottom of the page give the full name and address (including telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address if possible) of the author to whom all correspondence (including proofs) should be sent. The second page should repeat the title and contain an abstract in English of not more than 200 words. Authors are required to submit abstracts in either French or Spanish once manuscripts have been accepted for publication. The third page should repeat the title as a heading to the main body of the text. The text should normally be divided into sections with appropriate headings and subheadings. Within the text section headings and subheadings should be typed on a separate line without numbering, indentation or bold or italic typeface.

Units of Measurement
All measurements must be cited in SI units.

Illustrations
All illustrations (including photographs, graphs and diagrams) should be referred to as Figures and their position indicated in the text (e.g. Fig. 3). Each should be submitted as a separate file clearly labelled with the Figure number (Arabic numerals) and the title of the paper. The captions of all figures should be submitted as a separate file, should include keys to symbols, and should make interpretation possible without reference to the text. Figures should ideally be professionally drawn and should be capable of reduction.

Tables should be submitted as separate files, numbered in Arabic numerals, and their position indicated in the text (e.g. Table 1). Each table should have a short, self-explanatory title. Vertical rules should not be used to separate columns. Units should appear in parentheses in the column heading but not in the body of the table. Any explanatory notes should be given as a footnote at the bottom of the table.

Any consistent spelling style is acceptable. Use single quotation marks with double within if needed.
This journal requires a short paragraph of biographical details for all contributors.
