Instructions for Authors
***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***
The Editorial Board invites contributions in the broad area of English and English Teaching.
Manuscripts of ideally between 2000 and 5000 words, should be sent electronically to Jane Miller at jane@miller26.plus.com. Where this is not possible, 2 copies of the article, with any illustrations, should be submitted to: Jane Miller, Editor, Changing English, 26 Limerston Street, London, SW10 0HH, UK. Tel: 0207 351 1994.
To avoid 'keying in' problems, please submit final manuscript on a computer disk, compatible with IBM Wordperfect 5.1. Please also supply three copies of the article, typed on one side of the paper, double spaced and with ample margins. The article should bear the title of the contribution, the name(s) of the author(s) and the address where the work was carried out. Each article should be accompanied by a summary of 100-150 words on a separate sheet, and a short note, of less than 100 words, of biographical details. The full post address of the author who will receive correspondence and offprints should be included. All pages should be numbered. Footnotes should be avoided in favour of endnotes (and these only where absolutely necessary).
Electronic Submission. Authors should send the final, revised version of their articles in both hard copy paper and electronic disk forms. It is essential that the hard copy (paper) version exactly matches the material on disk. Please print out the hard copy from the disk you are sending. Submit three printed copies of the final version with the disk to the journal's editorial office. Save all files on a standard 3.5 inch high-density disk. We prefer to receive disks in Microsoft Word in a PC format, but can translate from most other common word processing programs as well as Macs. Please specify which program you have used. Do not save your files as "text only" or "read only".

Tables and captions to illustrations. Tables should be typed on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and printed on a separate sheet. Tables should be numbered by Roman numerals, and figures by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables, figures and illustrations should be indicated in the manuscript.
Figures. Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.
References should be indicated in the typescript by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full, at the end of the paper in the following standard form:
For books: Margaret, M. (1991) On Being Literate (London, Bodley Head).
For articles: Yandell, J. (1994) Really useful knowledge, Changing English, 2(1), 2-15.

For online documents: Standler, R. (2000) Plagiarism in colleges in the USA. Available online at: www.rbs2.com/plag.htm (accessed 6 August 2004).
