Instructions for Authors
Anthropology & Medicine welcomes original contributions from all parts of the world on the understanding that their contents have not previously been published nor submitted elsewhere for publication. Books for review should be sent to the Reviews Editor. Scholars wishing to guest edit a theme issue should write to the Editor, Sushrut Jadhav, Email: s.jadhav@ucl.co.uk, for full guidelines.
Manuscripts ideally between 5000 and 6000 words (inclusive of abstract, references and notes) should be sent to the Assistant Editor, Susie Kilshaw, Anthropology & Medicine, Department of Anthropology, University College London, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT, UK. All maps, figures, diagrams and tables should be counted as equivalent to 250 words per unit.
Manuscripts can only be considered if submitted electronically in Word format, along with a single hard copy, following the guidelines below. The manuscript should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced throughout (including the references), with margins of at least 2.5 cm (1 inch). All pages must be numbered. Please include the name and address of any one referee of your choice and a covering note to state that the contents have not previously been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources. All submissions must explicitly state funding source and ethics consent within the acknowledgements section of the manuscript.
The first page should include the title of the paper, first name, middle initial(s) and last name of the author(s), and for each author a short institutional address, and an abbreviated title (for running headlines within the article). At the bottom of the page give the full name and address (including telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address if possible) of the author to whom all correspondence (including proofs) should be sent. The second page should repeat the title and contain a structured abstract of not more than 250 words. The third page should repeat the title as a heading to the main body of the text. Long articles may need subheadings within some sections to clarify their content. Within the text section headings and subheadings should be typed on a separate line without numbering, indentation or bold or italic typeface. Foreign language words or phrases should be in italics with appropriate explanatory footnotes.

This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.
If you have any questions about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk
Tables and figures should be completely understandable independent of the text. Tables must be typed on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and typed on a separate sheet. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Maps should be treated as figures. Please supply clear copies of artwork for figures in a finished form suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher. Photographs should be unmounted, high-contrast glossy prints, with as much contrast as the subject allows. Authors must obtain consent from subjects or local institutions for any photographic material. Responsibility for obtaining informed consent for any photographs submitted for publication lies solely with the corresponding author.
Proofs will be sent to the author nominated for correspondence. Proofs are supplied for checking and making essential typographical corrections, not for general revision or alteration. Proofs must be returned (by air mail or fax) within 72 hours of receipt. While reasonable steps will be taken to ensure that such proofreading is accurate, neither the Editors nor the Publishers shall be responsible for any errors.
Free article access: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk
