Instructions for Authors

This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below.
Style information for CFPJ
All submissions should be made online at the Canadian Foreign Policy Journal ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre. Online user guides and access to a helpdesk are available on this website.
- Current email address of the author designated as the corresponding author.Full postal address of the corresponding author (with telephone and fax numbers).
- Full name of each author
- Full affiliation detail for each author. *Department, University, City, Country; **Department, University, City, Country
- All author data in a separate file to facilitate anonymous peer review. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “Title page (File not for review)”.
The Article
- Final version of your manuscript in electronic format (Word). This should be suitable for publication before submission. These files will be automatically converted into a PDF file for the review process.
- Title.
- Affiliation details: *Department, University, City, Country; **Department, University, City, Country.
- A separate Abstract 100-150 words. The abstracts will be in a separate section at the beginning of the issue.
- Five or six Keywords. Lower case except names and countries.
- Short biographical note Brief biographical paragraph.
- Numbered pages in sequence.
- Spell-checked text. Names of countries to be spelled in full (United States, United Kingdom etc.), ‘per cent' to be used in text (% in tables and graphs). US spelling.
- Clearly defined headings and subheadings.
- All necessary files (e.g. figures, tables, appendices, online-only material).
- Permission obtained for use of copyrighted material reproduced from other sources (including the Internet), particularly for figures.
- Acknowledgements to your funding agency and contributors.
- Length of article - Articles should not exceed 7,500 words and ideally should be 5,000-6,000.
- Headings - The use of sub-headings is encouraged to facilitate readability. Please designate each level of sub-heading with the appropriate letter, for example: <A> for subheadings, <B> for sub-subheading, and so on.
References
All references must be in the HARVARD B style.
All references in your References list must be cited in your text, and vice versa.
Full bibliographic detail must be included for each item in your References list
Figures and Tables
- All tables, figures, and captions must be separated from the body of the text: do not embed tables and figures in text.
- All figures, tables and graphics must be correctly sourced.
- Figure graphics must be in highest possible resolution, especially four-colour graphics.
- Figure graphics must be viewable in black-and-white format. The online version will be in colour.
- All figure captions must be provided.
- All tables must be included, along with caption and any footnotes.
