Strategic Comments is the Institute's online source of analysis of international security and politico-military issues. Published ten times per year, with five articles in each issue, Strategic Comments briefing papers offer succinct and cogent insights of consistent authority to its core readership of policy-makers, journalists, business executives and foreign affairs analysts.

Since its foundation in 1995, Strategic Comments has harnessed the considerable expertise of the Institute's research staff and members, as well as the broader strategic studies community. Each article, around 2,000 words in length, is supported by graphic features that complement the insights contained within the text. Each issue is delivered to subscribers or syndication recipients by an email message upon publication.

During 2004, articles have included:
The impact of missile defence in Asia; NATO's Istanbul summit; The Hamas factor; The US in Central Asia; Al-Qaeda targets Europe; and Iraq's constitution.

"Strategic Comments fills an important niche in the pantheon of publications of the IISS. Foreign affairs experts and business executives who rely on timely and accurate analyses of breaking international developments will find it invaluable."
Dr. Henry Kissinger
