Aims & Scope
The Journal of Media and Religion addresses the question of how religion as a social and cultural phenomenon broadens understanding of mass communication in society. It is a forum for scholars, media professionals, and theologians to discuss media and religion from a social science viewpoint. The journal examines a full range of religious traditions (e.g., Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Eastern religious philosophies, and new/alternative religious movements).
Articles reflect institutional, content, audience, cultural, political, and technological perspectives. The journal will discuss implications of the relationship between religion and mass media, generate theory about the nature and behavior of religious audiences, explore the social and cultural impact of religious involvement in public discourse about media, and provide a central forum for scholarly discussion in a number of relevant fields.
