Q: What is the JOEH? How is it different from the AIHA Journal and Applied Occupational and Environmental Hygiene?
The Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (JOEH) is a monthly, peer-reviewed journal produced jointly by ACGIH® and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). These two associations came together in 2003 and decided to work together to create a stronger journal for the occupational and environmental health and safety profession than either could do alone.
The AIHA Journal was the official journal of AIHA; it ceased publication at the end of 2003. Applied Occupational and Environmental Hygiene was the official journal of ACGIH® and also ceased publication at the end of 2003.
Q: What kinds of articles are published in the JOEH?
The JOEH is published to enhance the knowledge and practice of occupational and environmental hygiene and safety. The journal provides a written medium for the communication of ideas, methods, processes, and research in the areas of occupational, industrial, and environmental hygiene; exposure assessment; engineering controls; occupational and environmental epidemiology, medicine, and toxicology; ergonomics; and other related disciplines.
Q: I am an AIHA or ACGIH® member, and I can't access the full text of a JOEH, AIHA Journal, or Applied article.
Did you log in through the AIHA or ACGIH® members only section?
To log in, AIHA members should go to AIHA members should go to www.aiha.org and log into the members only pages with their member number and last name. Once you are logged in, click on the link that reads "Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene" and you will be taken directly to the JOEH Web pages.
ACGIH® members should go to www.acgih.org and log into the members only pages with their username (member number) and password (last name; please remember that your password is case-sensitive, e.g., Smith). Once you are logged in, click on the link to the JOEH.
Individuals who are members of both AIHA and ACGIH® can log in through www.acgih.org or www.aiha.org, whichever is more convenient.

Q: I'm looking for a specific JOEH, AIHA Journal, or Applied article. How can I find it?
Click on the "Search" button in the left-hand navigation menu to search through all JOEH articles, Applied articles from 1999-2003 and AIHA Journal articles from 1969-2003. You can search for a specific JOEH, AIHA Journal, or Applied article by citation information, or you can search all three journals simultaneously by key word, author name, article title, or DOI (digital object identifier).

Q: Can I order multiple reprints of a past JOEH, AIHA Journal, or Applied article?

Q: How do I get a single reprint (copy) of a past JOEH, Applied, or AIHA Journal article?
AIHA and ACGIH® members and JOEH nonmember subscribers can print PDF copies of any JOEH article, as well as Applied articles from 1999-2003 and AIHA Journal articles from 1969-2003. Individuals who are not AIHA or ACGIH® members or subscribers to the JOEH may purchase individual articles online. Either do a key word search or click on the volume number where the article appeared, then the issue where it appeared, and then the article title; in the box entitled "Full Text Access," click on "continue" to see the various options for accessing past articles.
Single reprints of Applied articles from before 1999 are available through ACGIH, at (513) 742-2020; fax (513) 742-3355, customerservice@acgih.org. Single reprints of AIHA Journal articles from before 1999 are available from AIHA. Contact Sheila Brown at (703) 846-0735 or sbrown@aiha.org to order.
